Kristi Sword is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her background as a jeweler allows her to see the micro-universe that exists under a magnifying loupe, revealing tiny metal landscapes. Because of its small scale and intricacy her process is lengthy and labor intensive. Patterns and grids have become a constant theme within her work, beginning with a rigid platform and then examining how it can be collapsed into something that retains the material’s original properties but is redefined. She works in drawings, sculpture, objects and jewelry, animation and installation.
